Seattle has a high number of public schools to serve the city's residents. Seattle Public Schools is the largest school system in Washington state. In 2018 113 schools were operated by the district.
Public schools include high schools, K-12 (from kindergaren to 12th grade), middle schools, K-8 (from kindergarten to 8th grade), and elementary schools.
Private schools can also be found, they are mostly operated by religious organizations. These include Seattle Preparatory School, Seattle Waldorf School, Holy Names Academy among others.

Most prominent universities:

University of Washington ranks at number 62 in National Universities and number 22 in Top Public Schools. A public instutition and it was founded in 1861. The campus's size is 634 acres. It is located north of downtown Seattle,  one of the oldest public universities of the West Coast. The school has School of Medicine, College of Engineering and Michael G. Foster School of Business. It had a 49% acceptance rate in 2018.

Seattle Pacific University ranks number 192 in National Universities. It is a private institution that was founded in 1891. It lies on a 43 acre area. It is located in the Queen Anne residential neighborhood.

Seattle University is a private institution that was founded in 1891. The school ranks number 139 in National Universities. The largest independent university, the campus size is 50 acres. It is located in the First Hill and Capitol Hill neighborhoods. There are 60 majors to study in the fileds of business and economics, arts and sciences, law, nursing, science and engineering etc.

In 2016 the most popular majors were Liberal Arts & Sciences, General Business Administration & Management, and General Psychology. The median tution cost is $37,920 for private colleges, and $3,393 for public college education for a four year duration.
