Seattle Center is the cultural center of the city. It all began with the construction of Civic Auditorium and Civic Arena in 1927. Many of the neighborhood’s attractions and buildings were created for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair. Gives home to arts, cultural, sports, educational and tourism activities. http://www.seattlecenter.com/about/history
The idea of the building came from Edward E. Carlson
the chief organizer of the 1962 World Fair. He got the inspiration during on a
trip to Stuttgart, Germany to create a central structure for the fair and a
symbol for the city. He was also the name giver. The first sketches resembled a
landed UFO, a balloon and a cocktail shaker. Architect Victor Steinbrueck came
up with the final plan the wasp-waisted tower shape based on an abstract
sculpture of a dancer “The Feminine One.” The structure has been reconstructed
many times. In 2018 the latest look was revealed with two multi-level,
floor-to-ceiling glass viewing experiences including an outdoor observational
level with open-air glass walls and Skyriser glass benches. The upper
observational level is connected to a rotating glass floor below. It is 605-foot
tall.

The place offers fresh, locally produced high quality food, goods and

Pioneer Square

historic place famous for the Romanesque Revival architecture. The term “Skid
Road” comes from here referring to the mules that skidded logs down the hill to
Yesler’s mill on Elliott Bay. The streets were raised up to 25 feet after the
Great Fire of 1889 and it created The Seattle Underground (a network of
basements and cellars). During the Gold Rush it became a destination for
prospectors a centre of prostitution, drinking, and gambling. In the late 80s
